The Rev. Philip Der, the Incumbent
The Rev. Philip Der came from a Christian family and received his education in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Canada. He was called to priesthood at the age of twenty and graduated from Master of Divinity at Wycliffe College in 1994. He was ordained as a deacon in 1994 and to the priesthood in 1996. He served as the assistant priest at St. Luke’s Church and the Good Shepherd Church in Vancouver from 1994 to 2000, focusing on youth and English ministry. In 2000, Rev. Der was called to be the Incumbent of St. Elizabeth’s Anglican Church, Mississauga. He was involved in the church relocation process as well as the building of the new church. He promoted small group ministry and set up St. Elizabeth’s Outreach Centre. Rev. Der holds a Certificate in Conflict Resolution at the Justice Institute of British Columbia. He is now studying for the Doctor of Ministry at Fuller Theological Seminary, USA, specializing in Missional Leadership. In September 2013, God sends Rev. Der to serve at St. Christopher’s. Rev. Der’s wife, Margaret, is a registered dietitian and they have two lovely daughters.
